First Antwerp and now Zeebrugge totally protected from radioactive materialsThe optic fibre network from B-Telecom connects highly sensitive container scanners in both ports in order to prevent terrorist activity.
Two years after the start of a similar pilot project in the Port of Antwerp, the Port of Zeebrugge is now completely secure and equipped with radiation detection to indicate the presence of special nuclear material in cargo containers. To achieve this, the two major ports in Belgium rely on a dedicated fibre optic network installed by B-Telecom in record time. Thanks to the high bandwidth of the network, the data from the container scans are sent instantly to the two Customs' Central Alarm Stations (CAS).
